You Can’t Park There
There are lots of things you don’t expect to happen whilst enjoying a quiet night in, and an idiot drunk driver trying park in your living room is definitely on that list.
Mrs R had the narrowest of escapes when this happened to her. Just a minute or so before, she had been sat watching television with her husband, but luckily had got up and left the room to get something. If she hadn’t she would have taken the full brunt of the flying masonry, and broken glass as the car plowed through the garden wall and onwards to the front of the house.
Needless to say the result had she still been there could have been catastrophic.
Whilst Mrs R did not suffer physical injuries, she did suffer significant and disabling psychiatric injuries. Injuries which had a marked effect on her life.
The law in relation to compensation for none physical injuries is complicated. Much more so than for more traditional claims. Even in circumstances such as these – which were pretty cut and dry with regard to blame – the entitlement to compensation is seldom straightforward. With issues of proximity and qualifying injuries to consider, these are not claims which should be handled by lawyers without experience.
We were able to take up Mrs R’s claim for her, acting on a no win no fee basis. The claim has now been settled by Andrew Marsden of our Batley office, and Mrs R will receive the compensation she deserves. With over 30 years in the law and claims, Andrew has the experience and knowledge needed to be able to bring these and other claims to a successful outcome for you.
