Brighouse 1940s weekend success
Congratulations to all of the organisers and participants in the Brighouse 1940s weekend.
Held over Saturday, 7 June to Sunday, 8 June the turnout from the town and the involvement of the shops and businesses was brilliant.
The variety of displays and things to see was extremely impressive. I know that the organisation that went into it was enormous; a particular thanks to all of the people (including Laura Fahy from Brearleys) who turned up so early in order to get everything set up.
Saturday was a bit of washout weather wise but the 1940s spirit held through and the turnout in the town was huge.
Sunday couldn’t have been better weatherwise; once the sun came out it was hot and well-deserved for everybody involved.
Highlights for me (as a self-confessed permanent child) were the Spitfire engine and the tank! I thought that the unexploded bomb, air raid siren and military policeman in full gas outfit was simply brilliant.
A huge thanks to everybody who was involved. For those of you that entered our prize draw it will be drawn at the Brighouse Gala where we will have our usual stall. We look forward to seeing you there.
