Brighouse Gala 2014
The Gala was a great success despite the weather. Although the sun never arrived it at least didn’t rain heavily and therefore the Gala ground filled up with lots of people throughout the day.
We were delighted to meet and speak with lots of people from Brighouse and the surrounding areas.
Nick Battye and Laura Fahy managed to meet and greet probably most of the people that arrived at the Gala. We were distributing free snap wraps ;self illuminating bands which are placed on the arm or on a bicycle for example so that they are reflective and easily seen . These are part of our overall safety awareness campaign has come about as a result of our being specialists in dealing with bicycle related injuries particularly where the cyclist has not been seen . By wearing something reflective it is our hope that the cyclist will have a better chance of being seen injuries will be avoided.
Every year when we attend the gala we represent the Laura crane trust . This local charity does amazing work in the field of teenage related cancer .we are delighted to be able to show our support.
As with every year, we had a prize draw and the prize this year was a fantastic DAB digital radio . Every penny that is contributed by you, the members of the public, goes to the charity ; including money put in for the lucky dip , the prize draw and of course simple donations .
As with every year we will double the amount donated . Watch this space for details of the overall total when we count up the donations and draw the lucky winner !
We would like to say a big thank you to everybody that contributed and particularly to the organisation committee who every year tirelessly organiser such a wonderful event for the town .
